The end of year is rapidly approaching, but we have no intention of slowing down our releases. We have some exciting updates to announce, starting with a substantial improvement to your account and team management workflows.

New Launch: Simplified Account Management

This week we launched our new website aimed at making it much easier and simpler to manage your subscription, team members, and permissions.

Did you know we have a Team plan? You and your colleagues may have subscribed through the App Store where only individual subscriptions are available. Team subscriptions are only available through our website and they can save you 5% or more while consolidating all of your charges into one. If you would like help switching to a Team subscription, drop us an email at support@touchgis.app.

We heard time and time again that adding team members could be confusing and error-prone, so we decided to do something about it. Inviting a new team member is now as simple as entering their email address and, on the receiving end, clicking ‘accept’ on the website. Check out the following video for a step-by-step demonstration, also available in our user guide.

We’ve also made it easier to manage your subscription on the web. As demonstrated in the video below, you’re able subscribe, upgrade, downgrade, or cancel in just a few clicks. It’s easier than ever to adjust your plan as your needs change, and we’ve even introduced monthly payment options on our website which were previously available only on the App Store. See our user guide to learn more.

For organizations with separate IT teams or multiple field teams active at different times of the year, we’re launching a new capability to enable and disable team members in order to simplify your administrative workload. In the past you needed to invite people to the team when they needed to go out into the field, and then remove them when finished to make space for the next person. With the new Enablement setting, you can add all of your team members just once and simply flip a switch when they’ve got fieldwork planned. For team members that need access for administrative purposes but don’t utilize the app in the field, leave them in the disabled state so that they don’t occupy a seat on your subscription. Check out our user guide or the video below to learn more.

The new site is also useful for things like leaving a team that’s no longer relevant to you, or granting other team members admin permissions.

These are the first of many updates to enhance collaboration with your colleagues and clients using the cloud, so stay tuned for more in this arena.

In other news, our latest app version is 1.6.2

Did you know we released an app update last month? In our pursuit of creating the perfect field partner, we released 1.6.2 to resolve a number of common crash-causing bugs and enhance performance.

Upgrade today for the best experience!

We’ve still got plenty of work ahead of us to ensure the app is always there for you in the field, but the latest version is a big step in that direction.

Submitting an EDMAP proposal?

If you’re based in the United States and are planning to submit a proposal to the U.S.G.S EDMAP program we would love to hear from you.

We’re interested in supporting the next generation of geologic mappers, and if our application could be useful to your research then let us know at support@touchgis.app. Depending on your proposal, we may be able to donate a subscription for use as matching funds.

That’s it for this edition of Field Notes! Thanks for reading and your continued support.

Cheers,

Mike
